Field Trip

One of the things that I love about my job is field trips...and not because of any extra money. First of all, it's always fun to take the kids to different places. Second of all---when it's to the library...I get to go online earlier in the day. That's where we went this morning.

Not sure what's going on at church tonight. Thursday's are supposed to be prayer meeting night...the only time allowed for the deposed intercessory team to pray...which totally sucks. I mean, how can you PRAY for your pastors when they're sitting right there? It can be a little awkward sometimes. But it said in the bulletin something about video's being shown for the next three nights. Oookay...just how I want to spend my evenings! NOT!

They've switched busses on me, I'm now driving Ed's bus and he has the spare bus --- apparently they've finally decided that 'hey, this bus can quit anytime anywhere so it's not safe to drive'---have they been listening to me?!?!?! And still...my first thought is..."OMG I'm driving the dorky looking bus." Sorry, but that was my first thought.

Hoping to go up to Cliff's this weekend. I also hope Mom remembered to tell him we're coming.

Ok...gotta go check email. :)

Ciera, Mom didn't have to tell me. She told Dawn, who then told me. the other night, Mom called just to tell me, but it was too late, because Dawn had already told me. Come on, give my wonderful wife some credit. On another note though, I can't wait for you to get here. It's been too long.

OK OK, enough mushy sibling stuff. You know, I've never thought of that start it in neutral trick. I might have to try that sometime.

you're either a bus driver or a teacher who drives a bus. either way, i'm not big on field trips. my kids make me too nervous and have a 50/50 chance of embarassing us in public. love 'em, though.

here via michele today.

Hearing you talk about your bus driving makes me think you would have been great in the Sandra Bullock role in 'Speed', where she had to drive that bus with a bomb!

Types of Friends

The other night, the friend that I watch tv and movies with was sharing something she had learned from a MOPS meeting. About the two different types of friends. Since that discussion, I've realized that there are at least 2 more types of friends and goofball that I am, I thought I'd share it all with you! Don't you feel lucky and special? :) 1. Mushroom Friends : These friends spring up over night and are in our lives just for a season. Kind of like the friends I made in school. The season is way over as I didn't even get Christmas cards from them this year [yes, I sent them cards]. 2. Oak Tree Friends : These friendships develop slowly, starting out small and laying down deep root systems. They last forever no matter how far apart the friends grow; time, distance, oceans and death cannot break the bond of friendship. They are the kind that years after being out of communication, if they heard you were in trouble {death in family, illness, etc...} they would drop stuff

A Situation

Ok. I need to think out loud here for a bit while I wait on email. I have a situation going on that could become tough. A bit of background: About 2 years ago, a single man started coming to my church and showed an interest in me. It lasted about a month and a half, with him giving me mixed signals all the time...since I have been praying for a husband for a while now, at the time, it seemed like my prayers were being answered despite the confusion. It all came down one night about midnight in his parking lot and I haven't talked to him since. He only stayed around for another 7-8 months, and those were very hard months. He lied to me and mislead me, often. Like it was second nature for him. It was made even more traumatic by a discovery of mine on a website shortly after he left the area. In September 2005, I had a blind date that was far from fruitful. My singleness and desire to be married is known to all in church, and so... To the present: Yes, another single man has walked in

Weekenders!!!

It's that time again. For Michele's weekend Meet-n-Greet. Some frown, but others gleefully play. Here's a question for all who visit here, whether on your own or from Michele's: Last night during a prayer meeting, I had a memory flash through my mind. More like the shadow of the memory. I was five years old or younger and I was begging my father for a peanut butter cake. I really wanted one, and even though I was interupting the adult conversation and probably being a regular brat...my Dad quit what he was doing to search for a recipe for a peanut butter cake...uhm, I don't think he ever found one so he made me a chocolate one with peanut butter frosting. This is probably the best memory I have of my father. So - what is your favorite childhood memory?????
