Weekenders!!!

It's that time again. For Michele's weekend Meet-n-Greet. Some frown, but others gleefully play.

Here's a question for all who visit here, whether on your own or from Michele's:

Last night during a prayer meeting, I had a memory flash through my mind. More like the shadow of the memory. I was five years old or younger and I was begging my father for a peanut butter cake. I really wanted one, and even though I was interupting the adult conversation and probably being a regular brat...my Dad quit what he was doing to search for a recipe for a peanut butter cake...uhm, I don't think he ever found one so he made me a chocolate one with peanut butter frosting. This is probably the best memory I have of my father. So - what is your favorite childhood memory?????

Comments

Here from Michele's.

I don't know about a best childhood memory, maybe it was this. Then again, maybe not.

Ooh, good question. (By the way, Michele sent me.) I guess it would be hanging out with my family in the summer at a racetrack. My dad drove sports cars as a hobby.

Love the question! I really have so many...

1) I loved playing in the sheets mom would hang out to dry. I loved the way the smell and the shadows you could make with your hands.

2) I loved riding horses with my dad in the mountains.

3) I loved the way the house smelled of home cooked meals when I came home from school.

4) Giggling with my two sisters and playing jokes on each other

Hi from Michele

Good morning! Here via Michele. Mine would be when I was about 5 my family and I used to sit in the living room on Saturday nights and listen to a local radio station that was having total request night. My dad would call in some requests and we would listen to it until bedtime. funny how when you think about it 28 years ago we didn't really watch much tv and now that is all we do! Wow 28 years! I feel older now.

hehe, am I one of the frowners?

Great story about your dad. He really did the right thing at that moment, as it's stayed with you all these years.

I think one of my fondest memories is road games -- traveling with the school basketball team to distant games on Friday nights. Man, that was fun!

I don't have one, Ciera. My memory fades in around the age 13.

I can remember teaching my sister how to smash flowerpots at an early age. Did not go down well with Mum.

Michele suggests I should not skip you.

I guess I remember getting in trouble with my dad when we were shopping and then my dad felt he was wrong for being upset with me and he went out and bought me a surprise without me knowing and then apologized to me. It had a great impact on me

What a good question! My best memory of my Dad is what he cooked for me: steak and french fries the size of my fingers, apple pies, soft-boiled eggs when I was sick, blackberry cobbler, etc. He was a very good and caring man.
Thanks for dropping by my blog. You have a great blog and I will see you again.

Shock and Awe

It is a strange thing. How someone can say, "I'm sorry, please forgive me" and still manage to correct you all at once...it is truly amazing to me. I was shocked that this person actually admitted to being wrong, and at the same time, I was ashamed for wanting it. But it got me to thinking. About Repentance and Forgiveness...how once they have happened...there is healing and restoration. I haven't completely researched it yet, but the verses I've peaked at in James make me think I'm not far off. I wonder, just as one person sinning can spoil others...can one person repenting turn others to repentance? Hmm.... Of course, as in any relationship situation...it helps to know the whole story. Why do we do that, I wonder? Close up and not share what is going on, I mean. I know that sometimes, there are things that hurt too deep to share right away. It is frustrating. Thanksgiving looks to be a dismal day so far. I'm not about ready to invite myself to any...

My Brother's Question and Answer Segment

As you all know from yesterday's post and comments, my brother slammed me on a few of my survey answers. I've left his questions/comments in black and my answers in blue. Letter: Q Now, I wonder why you would like the letter Q. I wonder what Jean-Luc REALLY thinks about that? Uhm---it's the only Star Trek related letter. :P Any comment Jean-Luc?? Body Part on Opposite sex: smile Age you wanna lose your Virginity: How old am I now? LOL Can these two answers really correspond? It sounds to me like you might be lying in one of these. What???? Sex doesn't start with a smile? Besides....you should see his smile. Strawberry or Watermelon: watermelon What! Watermelon! You...You... TRAITOR! :P Kiss or Hug: both Now, this answer seems to correspond well with both your answers in the above mentioned two questions. And your point is? Rap or Punk: rap You really like rap? Uhm...I think TobyMac counts as rap and I like a few of his songs. I also like hiphop. Wanna see me dance with ...

Ponderisms

This comes from an email from one of my many sisters. Some are just toooo funny!!! PONDERISMS 1.) I used to eat a lot of natural foods until I learned that most people die of natural causes. 2.) Gardening Rule: When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. 3.) The easiest way to find something lost around the house is to buy a replacement. 4.) Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway. 5.) There are two kinds of pedestrians: the quick and the dead. 6.) Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing. 7.) Health is merely the slowest possible rate at which one can die. 8.) The only difference between a rut and a grave is the depth. 9.) Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile when you see one tumble down the stairs. 10.) Have you noticed since everyone has a ca...
